Staff Bios

  • Sharon, a native Floridian, grew up in the panhandle town of Milton. She attended the University of Alabama on a golf scholarship, captained the golf team for two years and graduated with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising. Sharon’s career path includes comprehensive experience in all phases of golf course management. Sharon has participated in the U.S. Open as an amateur, and in a variety of mini-tour events and LPGA events. She has managed Southwinds Golf Course for the County since 1994.
  • Patrick is transitioning in his new role taking over for Billy Couch who will be retiring this Fall from the position he has anchored for over two decades. Patrick is a Class “A” member of the PGA of America, and is joining the Southwinds team from a high end private facility in Martin County. Patrick has been teaching players of all ages and abilities for the past six years, and has also served as an instructor at Okeeheelee Golf Course through the junior programs run by Teaching Professional of the Year Mary-Lee Cobick and LPGA Hall of Fame inductee Donna White. Patrick graduated Magna Cum Laude from Keiser University with a degree in Sports Management, and is currently pursuing an Operations Certificate from the PGA and membership into the Club Managers Association of America. When he isn’t at the course, he is spending his time with his beautiful wife Elizabeth and daughter Mackenzie. We welcome Patrick to the family and look forward to the journey to come!
  • A veteran golfer that has experienced success both on the course and in the golf shop, Pat Dowd serves as the head golf professional at Southwinds Golf Course. Pat was born in Pittsfield, Mass. and grew up playing the game of golf at the Country Club of Pittsfield. She went on compete in three U.S. Women's Open Championships and is a past New England Women's Amateur Champion. She also won the Massachusetts State Women's Amateur Championship twice and the Junior Massachusetts State Championship three times. Pat was the first LPGA pro at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. and went on to serve as the Special Events Director at Deer Creek Country Club, where she helped run the Linda Carter Maybelline Tennis Tournament as well as the Whirlpool Classic and the Mazda Classic on the LPGA Tour. She became the first Director of Golf at Stonebridge Golf Course in 1985 and, after serving as a manufacturer's rep from 1990 through 2010, joined Southwinds as the Head Professional in 2010. She currently is involved with the course's teaching programs and merchandising efforts.
  • Josefine comes to Southwinds all the way from Sweden. She comes to us with an impressive competitive background and looking to transition into a career as a Professional. A winner of her last amateur tournament, Josefine was Female Athlete of the year while attending Seminole State College, receiving All American honors while helping her team win a National Championship. She Graduated with her associates degree and next attended the College of Charleston where she garnered All-Tournament Team honors and 2nd Team All Conference. She enjoys working with individuals of all ages and abilities, but has really found a knack early in her career working with Junior players. We are excited to have Josefine as a member of our team!
  • Pete was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. He was introduced to golf course maintenance while working part time during summer vacations. His love of nature and being outdoors convinced Pete to pursue a career in golf course maintenance. Pete attended Ohio State University and earned his degree in Golf Course and Turfgrass Operations. Following his graduation from Ohio State, Pete moved to Florida and began his turfgrass management career. He worked in various capacities at Lost Tree Golf Club in West Palm and St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton before becoming the Golf Course Superintendent at Southwinds Golf Course in 1996.
  • Royce originally hails from Maryland and is a student at Keiser University’s College of Golf. Passionate about the game he has always excelled in (currently a 1.8 Handicap), He has decided to turn that passion into a career. Captain of the Keiser Club team as well as their number one player, he is combining his tremendous skill set with the unparalleled learning experience he is receiving from the professional staff at Keiser. His energy, and love for the game is now fueling his passion for operations which we believe will make him an invaluable asset not only to Southwinds, but the county system as a whole!
